About Dustin

He is a Prevention Technician with Cumberland Mountain Community Services Board, serving Buchanan, Russell, & Tazewell Counties, where the opioid epidemic has devastated families and communities for over 30 years. On issues including substance abuse, mental health, suicide, chronic disease, and public health, Dustin leads collaborative efforts in multiple community coalitions, including the Russell County Health Coalition and Russell County Prevention Coalition. Dustin also teaches prevention education programs and works with school administration, staff, and students on prevention projects. Dustin is a proud member of the Russell County Education Association, Virginia Education Association, and National Education Association.

Dustin has a passion for coaching quiz bowl and has been the Lebanon High School Academic Team Coach since 2015. Supporting youth programs for higher education and civic engagement is also very important to Dustin, who serves as Vice Chair of the People Incorporated Project Discovery Advisory Board, and a member of the Virginia YMCA Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee.

Dustin cares deeply for the Southwest Virginia community and is a 2013 recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award. He is a Past Area Governor for Rotary District 7570 and a Past President of the Russell County Rotary Club. Dustin holds the Real Estate Development seat on the Board and serves as Chair of the Upper Tennessee River Roundtable, a non-profit organization working to improve and educate the community on water quality in the Southwest Virginia watershed. Dustin also is a member of the New Economy Network, a group focusing on sustainable economic development and transition in Southwest Virginia’s coalfields.
